We all like AI. I don’t think there is a single person with internet access who doesn’t use AI.

Currently, these AI systems need to be trained with text, images, videos, etc. All this information can be taken from the internet. The internet is free, and people want to be free, but the information they publish on the internet is still subject to copyright law.

If the companies behind AI don’t collect the necessary data, we won’t benefit from AI either.

You want AI, but you don’t want to train it with publicly available text.

I would like to use IRC again, but I think I’ll be alone there, because very few people use IRC anymore.

The most popular successor, so to speak, is Discord - a proprietary service that does not respect privacy.

And the successor that does respect privacy is Matrix, but this service is also used rather rarely.

I went to pay the tax on the land I own in the mountains. I paid $1.15/€0.99 in tax for 1,000 square meters. I couldn’t believe how low the tax was. And 1,000 square meters isn’t small, yet the tax is still very low.

I’m not sure whether I should be happy about it or not.

Starting January 1, 2026, the tax will increase by 70% and will be based on the value of the land. I’m curious to see how much I’ll have to pay in land tax next year.

I read about “Techtember” and what this new word means on 82MHz, and I think it should be used more often.

Techtember refers to the annual period when many companies unveil their latest products and services.

As stated in the article published by 82MHz, we should do the opposite of what companies do. Once a year, in September, we should clean up the technology we’ve accumulated in our homes.

Over time, we tend to collect many things that are more useless than useful - at least for me, though they might still be useful to others.

I should do the same. I can’t promise that I’ll actually start cleaning up, but I’ll definitely think about it.

I have never been able to read digital books on my computer, laptop, or phone.

The 70% rule: If you’re roughly 70% happy with a piece of writing you’ve produced, you should publish it. If you’re 70% satisfied with a product you’ve created, launch it. If you’re 70% sure a decision is the right one, implement it. Do you want to keep a digital journal but don’t know how to prevent others from accessing it?

The easiest way is to buy an older, inexpensive laptop. Install Linux (I recommend Linux Mint Xfce), set a password for the operating system, and then install a dedicated digital journaling application.

The most important thing is not to connect it to the internet, so that no one can access your journal.

I often watch YouTube videos about technology, woodworking, podcasts (less frequently), and various other topics. However, YouTube’s algorithm keeps showing me the same videos every day, and I don’t know what to watch anymore because I can’t find anything interesting.

I’ve finished choosing a name for my blog and username, and I’ve also picked a theme for my blog. Now, all that’s left is to write as much as possible.
